A Bangladeshi woman has arrived in India with her one-year-old son, alleging that a man from Noida married her and fled after they had the child.  She named the man, Saurabhkant Tiwari of Surajpur in Noida, in a complaint and said that he married her while working in Dhaka, said Noida police.


The woman, who entered India on a tourist visa along with a one-year-old boy, informed the authorities that Tiwari was already married to an Indian woman and had two children with her. The complainant, a resident of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, said Noida man married her in April 2021, reported news agency ANI. Tiwari worked for a private firm in Dhaka from January 4, 2017, to December 24, 2021. Moreover, he and the woman from Dhaka got married according to Islamic rituals and practices on April 14, 2021, police said, citing the complaint.


According to news agency PTI, The police said the couple had a child together but Tiwari left Bangladesh after that and never returned. Commenting on the matter, Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) Anand Kulkarni said: "We have got a complaint from the woman who has come from Bangladesh. The matter has been sent to the Women and Child Safety Department for probe. All claims will be investigated and the documents about the claims checked.”


The officer further said the woman has also claimed that Tiwari had converted to Islam during his time in Bangladesh to get married to her.” Notably, all these claims are currently being verified.


The Noida police also commented on how she came to India. "The woman has provided details of her visa and passport as well as those of her son. The place of their wedding is claimed to be in Bangladesh. The matter has been sent to ACP (Women and Child Safety) for further probe,” an officer was quoted as saying by PTI.


The incident come up a month after the Noida Police arrested Pakistani national Seema Haider who had illegally entered India through Nepal to live with her Indian "husband", Sachin Meena, who happened to be from Greater Noida. The two got acquainted while playing the online game PUBG, and decided to get married.
