New colours aside, the Italian scooter manufacturer has also officially launched the Notte 125 in India

Vespa India has announced new colours for its 150cc range of scooters - which include the VXL150, SXL150 - for the year 2019. The new colours are Matt Rosso Dragon, Matt Yellow & Azzuro Provenza. The scooters have never seen an update since their respective launches. However, for 2019, apart from the new colours, the range features smartphone connectivity too, which will keep them fresh in the face of growing competition. With the Vespa connectivity app, the rider can access vehicle information, service history and last-parked location. There's also a panic-alert feature through which users can reach out to the registered mobile number in case of energency. The app is downloadable both on IOS and Andriod devices.

Additionally, the Italian scooter maker has also officially launched the Vespa Notte 125, priced at Rs 68,829 (ex-showroom Pune). This particular scooter gets an all-black theme, which is essentially a matte black paint job, blacked-out mirrors, alloys and exhaust muffler.

Apart from the new colours, the scooters continue to employ the same engine and underpinnings as before. The 150cc scooters put out 10.06PS at 6750rpm and 10.9Nm at 5000rpm. Both engines are mated to a CVT gearbox. The 2019 scooter range also feature an 8-litre fuel tank (up by 1 litre), which is the largest in its segment.

The scooters employ the same monocoque high-rigidity steel chassis, a bottom link suspension at the front and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear. For braking, they sport a single 220mm disc (bigger by 10mm compared to the earlier model) brake up front for extra bite, and 140mm drum brake at the rear. The scooters are shod with 110/70-11 tyres at the front and a fatter 120-70-10 rubber at the rear.

In terms of competition, the SXL150 and VXL150 are undisputed in their segments, the TVS NTorq comes quite close to them in terms of performance. Vespa has priced the SXL 150 and VXL 150 at Rs 91,140 and Rs 97,276 respectively. All prices ex-showroom, Pune. Vespa will also be launching new colour variants for the 125cc range next month.
