LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav took ill late on Monday evening, a family source said.

"Netaji is down with a severe toothache and underwent a check-up, after which the doctors have advised him rest," the source said.

Mulayam Singh had a root canal done some time back and had been ailing from a toothache for a long time.

As soon as news of his indisposition reached party leaders, both Shivpal Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav drove down to meet him.

A senior leader said that both the leaders, who are otherwise at war with each other, drove in one vehicle.

The family patriarch has been battling internal feuds in the party for about a month which have left him "stressed, exhausted and traumatised", a close aide said.
