A day after the prime suspect and mastermind in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala murder Goldy Brar was trending online, following the chatter that he had been allegedly shot dead in California, US has quashed these reports saying that although there was a shooting victim in California, but he was "definitely not Goldy Brar".

Lieutenant William J. Dooley said: "If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming the shooting victim is 'Goldy Brar', we can confirm that this is absolutely not true," IANS quoted him as saying.

Calling them rumours, he said that the US authorities received inquiries about it from around the world after the news about Goldy Brar being shot dead spread online.

Stressing that it was merely a rumour, Dooley said: “We have received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of misinformation being spread on social media and online news agencies. We are not sure who started this rumour, but it caught on and spread like wildfire. But again, it isn’t true. The victim is definitely not Goldy.”

On Wednesday evening, more than 10,000 posts on the microblogging site and several media agenies reported the death of the Moosewala murder mastermind, who also threatened to attack Salman Khan recently.
