Goldy Brar, the prime suspect in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been trending on the internet on Wednesday. Brar was the top trend in the country on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening with more than 10,000 posts on the microblogging site.

Several unconfirmed reports on Wednesday claimed Goldy Brar has been fatally shot in the US. Brar, a designated terrorist in India, was attacked on Tuesday evening in Fairmont and Holt Avenue, as per reports.

According to a report in Asianet news, Brar was attacked by unknown assailants around 5:25 pm on Tuesday when he was standing outside a house with a friend. He was attacked by armed gunmen who opened fire at him and fled the scene.
Arsh Dalla and Lakhbir have reportedly claimed responsibility for Brar's alleged death citing long-standing animosity behind the killing.
However, neither the US police nor the Indian government have made any announcement on the alleged attack. There has also been no such confirmation from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang.
Who Is Goldy Brar?
Satinder Singh Brar, nicknamed Goldy Brar, has been in news ever since the killing of famous singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
Goldy Brar hails from Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab and has been an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The Canadian government has named Brar among the country’s top 25 wanted criminals. The Punjab-origin affiliate of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for murder.
29-year-old Brar reached Canada on a student visa in 2017 and has been on the run since 2022, ever since the murder of Moosewala.
According to Interpol, Brar has been charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, and the supply of illegal firearms in India.
Indian Govt Declares Goldy Brar Terrorist
On January 1, 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs declared Goldy Brar a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
In a gazetted notification, Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary of Union Ministry of Home Affairs said, “And whereas, Satwinder Singh alias Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, presently residing in Brampton, Canada is associated with Babbar Khalsa International…And whereas, Babbar Khalsa International is listed as a terrorist organisation.”
The central government designates an individual a terrorist through a notification in the official gazette and by adding his name to the Fourth Schedule to the UAPA.
The government can designate an organisation involved in terrorism if it commits, prepares, promotes or is involved in terrorist activities.
