The firm has positioned the Duty Ace and Duty S as entry-level cruisers for the masses

First showcased at Auto Expo 2018, the UM Renegade Duty Ace and Duty S were supposed to be launched this month. However, the launch was delayed in order to accommodate the government regulations which make ABS mandatory for all motorcycles above 125cc. Now, the American motorcycle manufacturer has announced that it will launch the Renegade Duty Ace and the Renegade Duty S in the first half of 2019.

UM Motorcycles will source parts for the Renegade Duty Ace and Duty S from local vendors, which will help them price the two bikes competitively. As for the bikes themselves, both share the same 230cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 17PS of power at 8000rpm and 17Nm of torque at 5000rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. These bikes have been inspired by cafe racers and will act as entry-level cruiser offerings for the masses. With the addition of the Renegade Duty Ace and Duty S, the manufacturer will expand its India lineup to a total of five products.

UM had already announced prices for both the bikes at the Auto Expo: Rs 1.1 lakh for the Duty S and 1.29 lakh for the Duty Ace. That said, we expect a price hike due to the addition of ABS when they’re launched next year. The bikes will compete against the Bajaj Avenger Street 220, priced at Rs 95,923, and the Royal Enfield Classic 350, priced at Rs 1.39 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
