New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy attended the "Telangana Liberation Day" at Parade Ground in Hyderabad today. Shah hoisted the national flag and reviewed the paramilitary forces' parade, officially kicking off the year-long Telangana-Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations in three states: Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
While speaking at the event, Amit Shah emphasised the importance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the unification of the princely state of Hyderabad. "Sardar Patel knew that as long as Nizam's Razakars could not be defeated, the dream of Akhand Bharat would not be fulfilled. If not for Sardar Patel, Hyderabad would have taken more years to be liberated": Amit Shah.
He further said, "Unfortunately, 75 years have passed, and those who ruled this place could not dare to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day due to vote bank politics." He added, "Many people have promised during elections and agitations that they would celebrate Liberation Day." But when they came to power, they backed down out of fear of the Razakars."
Just ahead of the function the Union Home Minister took to twitter to extended greetings to people on "Telangana-Hyderabad Liberation Day" and shared that he has arrived in Hyderabad to participate in the event.
Some 1,200 artistes from Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra participated in the colourful programmes showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the region.
Karnataka and Maharashtra governments have been celebrating the ‘Liberation Day’ for many years but was not done in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh or now Telangana governments, said Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of Northeast region G Kishan Reddy while addressing the media on Friday
"These celebrations are now under the supervision of the Culture Ministry." "I personally invited the chief ministers of all three states, as well as public representatives such as ministers, MPs, MLAs, and sarpanchs, to attend the events," he said while speaking to the media.
The Outlook Of The Hyderabad Liberation Day Celebration Program:
Around 1,500 former freedom fighters and their families, as well as eminent personalities and ex-servicemen were invited to the event. At the venue, a photo exhibition depicting the incidents was organised. "We are proud to have had the opportunity to organise such an event where we could truly pay tribute to those who had given up their lives for freedom from tyranny," the Minister said.
Kishan Reddy stated that his party (BJP) took up the cause of celebrating 'Liberation Day' two decades ago and that after "many obstacles," the event was finally happening at the historic venue, which also hosts the Republic Day celebrations every year. September 17 is also significant for his party because it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, and many welfare activities have been planned to reach every village. The items to be distributed to the identified beneficiaries are approximately 150 battery-powered tricycles, smartphones and intelligent sticks for the visually impaired, automatic toilet cleaning machines, and others.
