Expect deliveries to begin from July 2018
The much anticipated 125cc maxi-styled scooter, the Suzuki Burgman, could be yours very soon. According to our sources, Suzuki dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings for the scooter. However, customers will have to wait for about a month for the deliveries to begin. The booking amount for Burgman Street 125 varies between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 depending on the dealership.
The Burgman Street takes inspiration from Suzuki’s Burgman range of maxi-scooters sold in Europe and gets features like integrated LED headlamps, body-mounted windscreen, a stylish tail light and a digital instrument console derived from the Suzuki Gixxer. The uniquely designed handlebar and stretched out floorboard make for a relaxed riding posture. Other features include a 12V charging socket, generous underseat storage, storage bins behind the front apron, tubeless tyres, a multi-function key slot and a disc brake at the front.
The recent sightings of the scooter on public roads suggest that the scooter could be launched in the first half of July. The Burgman Street shares the same 124.3cc, single-cylinder engine as the Access. This motor produces 8.7PS at 7000rpm and a peak torque of 10.2Nm at 5000rpm. The suspension setup and the brakes are likely to be carried over from the Access as well.
Positioned as a luxury scooter and styled to mimic a maxi-scooter, the Burgman Street 125 comes across as a good proposition for a family-oriented scooter when compared to the current lineup of 125cc scooters. At an expected price of around Rs 65,000 the Burgman Street will compete with the likes of the TVS Ntorq 125 (Rs 62,300), Vespa VXL 125 and the Honda Grazia 125 (Rs 64,362, all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
