It is a heartbreak to register the suicide of a young and highly successful actor who himself had in fact been the lead actor of the Bollywood movie 'Chhichhore' which spilled the social message on mental stress, anxiety, depression which often triggers suicidal tendencies.
Released in 2019, 'Chhichhore' is the story of Annirudh (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Maya (Shraddha Kapoor), successful engineers and a divorced couple whose world come crashing when their only son Raghav tries committing suicide after failing in engineering entrance exam. In hospital, Raghav's condition continues slipping. His will to live ebbs and his body doesn't reciprocate to treatment. Oscillating between a grim present and a carefree past, the story sets up two very different coming-of-age sagas. There is Raghav's plot, rendered with bittersweet sensitivity - fluctuating between hopelessness and hope. Then there is the story of Annirudh's college days, where he and his hostelmates learn to believe they can win.
The actor who shot to prominence with television industry as Manav in Pavitra Rishta has shocked one and all with this step. Though Rajput’s career was undergoing a cold phase, since some time, he had already made a mark among the promising actors of the industry and had given several critically acclaimed films to the industry. It is to be noted that actor's suicide has come days after his ex-manager Disha Salian had committed suicide on Monday (June 8) by jumping off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai. According to reports, Disha was with her fiancé when she committed suicide. The reason behind her suicide is not known yet.
