This is the second grenade attack in Srinagar within 15 days. It was a week ago when militants hurled a grenade in north Kashmir’s Sopore when nineteen people were injured.
The Kashmir valley has been witnessing continuous shutdown since August 5 when the Centre revoked the state's special status under Article 370 and bifurcated it into two Union Territories — J&K and Ladakh. On October 26, six security personnel were injured after an attack was launched on them in Kakasarai area of Karan Nagar in Srinagar.
Earier, the security forces were also targeted by terrorists in Srinagar's Karan Nagar during naka duty. A grenade was lobbed at Karan Nagar Police Station followed by firing.
