Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha on Thursday made a scathing attack on Congress after the Opposition targetted him over the Adani row. PM Modi took a dig at the President of Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge after the latter complained about the Prime Minister's visits to Karnataka.

"Kharge Ji complains that I visit Kalaburagi. He should see the work done there. 1.70 cr Jan Dhan bank a/c have opened in Karnataka incl over 8 lakh accounts in Kalaburagi. So many people getting empowered, while someone's account getting closed, I can understand the pain," PM Modi said as quoted by news agency ANI.

The Budget session of Parliament has been marred by ruckus ever since US short-seller Hindenburg Research accused Adani Group of stock manipulation and accounting fraud. The Adani Group has denied any wrongdoing and has threatened to sue Hindenburg.

The Opposition has demanded a joint parliamentary committee probe the allegations against the Adani Group.
