New Delhi: Czech automaker Skoda has launched the new Ambition Plus variant to add to the Octavia sedan line-up. The new variant gets stacked above the Ambition and below the Style Plus trim. Skoda offers both petrol and diesel fuel options in the new variant, along with automatic transmission in petrol and both manual and automatic options in the diesel engine-powered trim.
The new Ambition Plus variant also brings down the 1.8-litre TSI engine mated to the DSG transmission to itself. The engine-transmission option was available only on the Style Plus variant, which is the most top of the line variant of the Octavia. It is also made available at a price much below the top-spec variant by about Rs. 2 lakh and so a wider range of buyers will be able to avail the engine-transmission option.
As a sort of upgrade to the existing Ambition variant, the Octavia Ambition Plus has a large 6.5-inch LCD TFT touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink Connectivity. The interior also gets height-adjusted front passenger seat and leather seats.
The exterior has come with a lot of changes compared to the Ambition variant with new Bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs and LED tail lights with automatic on/off. On the safety front, it gets electronic stability control (ESC), cruise control, automatic wipers, etc. The ORVMs are also electrically foldable.
However, the top of the line Style Plus variant still has rear side and curtain airbags, sunroof, rear-view camera, navigation, sunroof, etc. It also has electrically adjustable driver seat with memory and tyre pressure monitoring system.
The Ambition Plus won’t get these above features, while prices begin from Rs. 19.60 lakhs to Rs. 20.68 lakhs (ex-showroom prices, Delhi) among the Ambition Plus variant.
