Kerala Congress accused ruling CPI(M) of entering an understanding with BJP ahead of 2024 polls. The accusation of the Congress comes after Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan's aide KV Thomas met Metroman E Sreedharan for SilverLine Project. Congress leader K Muraleedharan said that the time in which everything is moving indicates the secret understanding between BJP and CPI(M).

Congress leader K Muraleedharan said, "We heard about the meeting between Thomas and Sreedharan and then saw state BJP president K.Surendran dashing to meet Sreedharan. Now, we hear that a new proposal has also been submitted."

"This speed clearly indicates that in the name of a new proposal, bridges are being built for a tacit understanding between the BJP and the CPI(M), as the Lok Sabha elections are nearing,” he said.

Sreedharan is also expected to meet Vijayan on Thursday to discuss the revised proposal of the controversial project, as per sources, said a report on ANI.

The CPI(M) and Pinarayi Vijayan drew flak from the people for going ahead with the SilverLine (K-Rail) project.

On a few occasions, even the Centre pointed out that the project is not viable and feasible.

However, the CM has roped Thomas and with this, all eyes are on the outcome of the proposed meeting between Vijayan and Sreedharan. The move is also set to come even as Congress and the anti K- Rail Committee are eagerly waiting to learn about the new proposal.

SilverLine Project is the effort of the Kerala government in association with the Ministry of Railways to construct a semi-high-speed rail corridor of 529.45 km length from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaargode. Once the project is completed, the distance between Thiruvanathapuram to Kasaargode is likely to be covered in four hours by following a dream speed of 200 km/h.
