New Delhi: The Punjab-Haryana High Court has dismissed a plea for interrogation of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Tihar Jail and not taking him to Punjab in connection with the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. The High Court termed the petition as "baseless". During the hearing of Bishnoi's petition before the bench of Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Advocate General of Punjab Anmol Ratan Singh Sidhu told that Lawrence Bishnoi has not been named in the Sidhu Moose Wala case and thus his plea was premature and not maintainable.


On this, the High Court said that Lawrence has filed this petition even before his nomination, so this petition is premature and also baseless. On this basis, Bishnoi's petition was dismissed. By filing a petition, Bishnoi had demanded from the High Court that whatever interrogation needed to be done on him in the Sidhu Musewala case, it should be done in Tihar Jail in Delhi. 


As Bishnoi's request came up with a hearing in the court of Justice Sureshwar Thakur on Thursday, Punjab Advocate General Anmol Rattan Sidhu contended that the plea should be dismissed as premature.


"We raised the point that this is not maintainable and this is premature and accordingly it is to be dismissed," he told reporters.


The appeal was excused as untimely and not viable, he added.


Sidhu said Bishnoi has yet not been named in the FIR enrolled regarding the Moose Wala murder case.


The Punjab AG further said Bishnoi is now under police custody till June 5 as requested by the Delhi Metropolitan Magistrate.


In his appeal submitted through advocates Sangram Saraon and Shubpreet Kaur, Bishnoi had sought directions that the legal justice in Mansa, Punjab, be limited from giving over his custody to the investigating agency in Punjab.

The petitioner had looked for the issuance of proper directions for questioning him through the web/video gathering office or inside the regions of Tihar Jail, New Delhi.


The petitioner had likewise presented that there was a significant danger to his life and a possibility that after being created or while being gotten from care associated with the FIR enrolled by the Mansa police, he can be put to hurt or exchanged by taking on extrajudicial means.


Bishnoi, 35, in his request, guaranteed that he was dishonestly embroiled in the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala.


Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified people in Punjab's Mansa, a day after the state government reduced his security cover. His cousin and a friend, who were going in a jeep with him, were likewise harmed in the assault.


Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a judicial commission headed by a sitting high court judge to probe the killing.


Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was among the 424 individuals whose security was removed or reduced on May 28 briefly.


Punjab police boss V K Bhawra had guaranteed that prima facie,  it seemed to be an inter-gang rivalry and had said that the Lawrence Bishnoi group was behind this attack.


Canada-based criminal Goldy Brar, who is a member of the Bishnoi group, had purportedly guaranteed liability regarding the homicide.
