Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar underwent an endoscopy on Tuesday night at a hospital in Mumbai and got his Gallbladder stone removed a day ahead of the scheduled surgery as he complained pain in his abdomen. would soon take a call on the removal of his Gallbladder.


News agency ANI quoted Doctor Amit Maydeo saying that Pawar is doing fine and currently under observation after undergoing surgery last night.

"After conducting some tests, we decided to perform the surgery on him (Sharad Pawar) as there were some complications. The procedure was of half an hour. We will be deciding on the removal of his Gallbladder later. His condition is fine but since the procedure was done just a while ago, so currently, he is under observation," the doctor said.

The NCP leader and Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope confirmed the development saying NCP chief Sharad Pawar is doing well after an operation. "Sharad Pawar ji is doing well after the operation. Stone has been removed from the gallbladder successfully. It was done through endoscopy," he said, as reported by ANI.

80-year-old Pawar, who has been diagnosed with gallbladder disease, complained of abdominal pains on Sunday following which, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.


NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had earlier informed that the 80-year-old veteran politician was on blood-thinning medication which was later stopped due to the gall bladder issue.
