Madhav Patil, who lives in Bamandongri village in Uran Taluka, Raighad, Maharashtra, has been working as a journalist since the past 35 years. Although, he is widely known in the region for his journalistic skills, his marriage has now become the talk of the town.

Photos from Madhav Patil's wedding went viral on social media. While some trolls were quick enough to slam and ridicule him, many social media users supported his decision. Madhav, in an exclusive interview with ABP Majha's Vinayak Patil, opened up about his decision to get hitched at the age of 66 when he had already made up his mind to never get married.

Why Madhava Patil Decided To Get Married At 66?

Madhav Patil, who has been living away from his house since the past seven months, felt the need to have a companion during the COVID-19 crisis. While he is 66, his mother is 88 years old. He realised that he should have a life partner, who can take care of the house. The journalist tied the knot with Sanjana, a divorcee. The 45-year-old lost her brother-in-law amid the COVID-19 lockdown. Relatives and friends mocked Sanjana and asked her why she is marrying someone, who is her father's age. She didn't pay heed to anything and took nuptial vows with Madhav. While this is Sanjana's second marriage, Madhav got hitched for the first time.

Madhav and Sanjana have become the butt of jokes on social media but the couple has no intentions on giving importance to the trolls.  Madhav Patil said, "If I spend 35-40 years in the field of journalism, sociology and politics, I will be happy."
