This year's Republic Day was a special one, as it was the first time ever in India's history that the parade was heralded by over 100 women artistes and witnessed the maiden participation of all-women contingents, showcasing growing 'Nari Shakti.'


The Republic Day parade saw our nation's women at the forefront, leading contingents and proudly marching down the Kartavya Path to commemorate India's 75th Republic Day.


A band comprising 112 female artists kicked off the parade with an 'Aavahan' and walked down the path while playing Indian folk and tribal musical instruments such as Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, Dhol, Dollu Kunitha, to Raga Revati of Carnatic music.






It was the first time that an all-women contingent from the tri-services (Army, Navy, and Police Force) consisting of 148 Agniveers and regular recruits marched at the Republic Day parade. It was led by Captain Sandhya of the military police.






An all-women contingent consisting of 144 officers of the Military Nursing Services, led by Major Srishti Khullar along with Captain Amba Samant from Army Dental, Surg Lt. Kanchana from Indian Navy, and Flt. Lt. Dhivya Priya from Indian Force, also marched on the Kartavya Path for the first time.






The Indian Navy tableau was commanded by Lt. Commander Juhee Bhope and Lt. Commander Nishith K.S. It showcased the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and Navy ships Delhi, Kolkata, and Shivalik, along with the Kalavari Class Submarine. The tableau highlighted the themes of 'Nari Shakti' and 'Atmanirbharta.'






Indian Air Force marching contingent of 144 officers led by Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur ,with Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, Squadron Leader Pratiti Ahluwalia, and Flight Lieutenant Kirit Rohil marched at the Lartavya Path in a box formation.






It was followed by the Indian Air Force's tableau, which highlighted its expanded reach and displayed its theme, 'Bhartiya Vayu Sena: Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar.'  The tableau was commanded by two women aircrew, Flt. Lt. Ananya Sharma and Flying Officer Asma Shaikh, who were present on the tableau in full uniform. 






The Mobile Drone Jammer System was led by Lt. Col. Ankita Chauhan of the 11th Electronic Warfare Battalion of the Army.






A detachment of the Regiment of Artillery called Pinaka was led by Lt. Priyanka Sevda of 262 Field Regiment. Pinaka is a multi-barrel, fully automatic rocket launcher system developed, designed, and manufactured indigenously by DRDO.





For the first time ever, the BSF Mahila Brass Band, under the command of Sub Inspector Shweta Singh marched on the Kartavya Path. This was followed by an all-women BSF marching contingent led by Asst. Commandant Monika Lakra.
