NEW DELHI : Renault India has issued a silent recall for the 0.8-litre version of the Kwid. The recall includes select units of the car that were manufactured till May 18, 2016. As a corrective measure, a fuel hose clip will be added to these cars and service centres will also analyze the functioning of the fuel system to fix any fuel flow issues.

As per the press release issued on 10th October, the brand’s dealerships have started reaching out to customers in order to have the cars inspected. Moreover, any fitments/repairs will be carried out without any cost to the owners.

The Kwid 0.8 is powered by a 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 54PS of power and 72Nm of torque. This motor comes paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Renault recently introduced the hatchback with a 1.0-litre engine as well and customers who bought this variant will be unaffected by the recall. Producing 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque, this engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as well, but an automated manual transmission (AMT) variant is likely to make its way to your neighbourhood Renault dealership in the first half of 2017.

Currently, the Kwid 0.8 is priced between Rs 2.65 lakh and Rs 3.74 lakh, while the Kwid 1.0, which is available only in the range-topping RXT and RXT (O) grades, is priced between Rs 3.83 lakh and 3.96 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). However, citing rising input costs, Renault is likely to hike prices of the Kwid and other models in its portfolio by 1-2 per cent soon.
