Topped with knobby tires and race-tuned suspension, the NTorq SXR gets a major bump in power (20+PS) and top speed
The competition-spec version of the NTorq, the NTorq SXR, is all set to debut in the race arena in the fourth round of the Indian National Rally Championship 2018 in Nashik. As per the Hosur-based manufacturer, the NTorq SXR comes with superior performance and ergonomics optimised for racing. Speaking about the mechanicals, the scooter is equipped with race-tuned intake and exhaust systems and an optimized ignition system.
The engine (likely to be a derivation of the TVS SXR 160) in this trim makes over 20PS of power, as opposed to the stock (TVS NTorq) 124.79cc engine’s 9.4PS. The top speed has gone up from the stock scooter’s 95kmph to over 120kmph in the SXR.
The NTorq SXR rides on 12-inch knobby tyres on steel wheels, with race-tuned hydraulic suspension to tackle the challenging terrain. Commenting on the scooter’s debut, Mr. B Selvaraj, Team Manager, TVS Racing, said, “The TVS SXR 160 has always been a formidable machine in the scooter racing arena. With the debut of TVS NTORQ SXR, we are confident to take the performance up by several notches. We have tested the scooter for performance and reliability and I am confident it will set new benchmarks in the scooter class. The TVS Racing scooter team holds a strong winning record and the TVS NTORQ SXR will build on this success story.”
The fourth round of the Indian National Rally Championship is scheduled to take place in Nashik on 25th & 26th May. Three times National Championship winner Asif Ali and Shamim Khan will be riding the new race-tuned TVS NTorq SXR in the rally.
