Congress leader arrived at Coimbatore Airport on Saturday to visit his Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency after the restoration of his parliamentary membership. He will be visiting his constituency later in the day. A few months back, the Congress leader was disqualified as an MP following a verdict in his 'Modi surname' remark case, however, now the Supreme Court has put a stay order against that judgement due to which Gandhi's membership of the Parliament got restored.
The Congress leader earlier launched sharp attacks at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament over the ongoing violence in Manipur. Gandhi on Friday said that PM Modi is "refusing to stop" the violence in Manipur as he wants the fire to rage on. He further alleged that PM Modi is allowing the state to burn. The Congress leader then gave a justification regarding his remarks in the Lok Sabha on Mother India which later got expunged. He said, he "cannot even say the word Bharat Mata" in Parliament.
The Wayanad MP while talking to the media said, "I watched the Prime Minister speak for two hours laughing, joking, and raising slogans... He seems to have forgotten that Manipur is on fire and has been on fire for four months. Women and children are dying over there people are being murdered women are being molested and raped. The Prime Minister is sitting in Parliament shamelessly laughing. This is not about the Opposition it is about India it is about our country."
He further said, "A state has been disseminated. It has happened because of the government's divide and rule and burn policy, that is why I said Bharat Mata has been murdered in Manipur."
