Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled in Delhi Metro on Sunday and interacted with passengers who also shared a ride with him. News agency ANI shared a visual of PM Modi interacting with people on his 73rd birthday. Following this he inaugurated the extension line of the Delhi Airport Metro.
One of the passengers took this opportunity to wish PM Modi on the occasion of his 73rd birthday. The passenger wished him in Sanskrit language.
The Prime Minister then inaugurated the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station ‘YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’. ANI shared a video of him inaugurating the extension.
After inaugurating the extension, PM Modi also interacted with the employees of the Delhi Metro.
The Prime Minister then also met with artisans and craftsmen related to the footwear industry, in the national capital.
The extension that the Prime Minister inaugurated will be around two kilometres.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in a statement said, "Passenger operations on this new extension will be started from 3 pm on Sunday. With the addition of this section, the total length of the Airport Express line from New Delhi to YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 will become 24.9 kilometres."
From today onwards, the Delhi Metro will increase the operational speed of the trains running on the Airport Express line from 90 kilometres per hour to 120 kilometres per hour. DMRC said that due to the increase in the operational speed, "The total journey from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 will take about 21 minutes.
