To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 73rd birthday on Sunday, September 17, a thousand auto rickshaw drivers in Gujarat's Surat will offer a 30 percent discount to its customers. While 73 other auto rickshaw drivers will carry the passengers to their destination for free, said Gujarat MLA Purnesh Modi.
"1000 auto-rickshaw drivers have announced 30% discount on PM Modi's birthday. I would like to thank 73 auto-rickshaw drivers who are offering 100% discount on the 73rd birthday of PM Modi," said the MLA to news agency ANI.
The Prime Minister was born in Vadnagar, a small and nondescript town in the Mehsana district of north Gujarat.
Meanwhile, in Puri district of Odisha, an artist has made a sand art ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Sunday, which is also Vishwakarma Jayanti. The art shows the Prime Minister seeking blessings from Lord Vishwakarma on his birthday as Konark wheels surround the entire art.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Sudarshan said it's a special day as Vishwakarma Jayanti, day of celebration for Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect, also falls on the same day. So he has depicted the PM seeking blessing from the lord to take the country on the path of development further.
He also said that 50 Konark wheels, have been used to decorate the sand art.
A replica of the Konark Wheel from Odisha's Sun Temple was used as the backdrop for Prime Minister's welcome handshake with G-20 leaders.
