Delhiites residing in the flood-prone areas near river Yamuna are now being shifted to safer locations as the river exceeded the 'Evacuation Mark' of 206 metres on Tuesday amid heavy rainfall, reported news agency PTI. In the past 24 hours, eight people have died in Uttar Pradesh and two have lost their lives in Uttarakhand as rain wreaks havoc across several states in the country. The frightening sitiution in Himachal Pradesh which saw several tourists being stranded with rockslides and landslides damaging vehicles has not seen an improvement as heavy rain led to the swelling of the Beas river that flooded nearby areas. Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will take stock of the affected regions today by conducting an aerial survey today.
