New Delhi: One of the two black boxes belonging to China Eastern Airline (600115. SS) aircraft has been found in severely damaged condition, which crashed on Monday, as reported by news agency AP.

China stated that the black box of the crashed plane was found in a very damaged condition.

An aviation regulator official told reporters on Wednesday that the recorder was so damaged that they could not tell if it was a flight data recorder or a cockpit voice recorder. Officials said the pilots did not respond to calls from air traffic controllers after the plane went into a nosedive.

A flight recorder "from China Eastern MU5735 was found," on Wednesday Liu Lusong, a representative for China's aviation authority, told reporters, in spite of the fact that state media later said it was seriously harmed, as reported by AFP.

The Boeing 737-800 is furnished with two flight recorders: one in the back traveler lodge following flight information, and the other a cockpit voice recorder.

"At present, it is unclear whether it is a data recorder or a cockpit voice recorder," that has been found, Mao Yanfeng, an authority at the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), said by state media.

There were 132 people on board the plane and all are feared dead. These include 123 passengers and 9 crew members. Earlier, it was reported that an investigation into the plane crash was still ongoing, which was disrupted by bumpy roads and rain on Wednesday.

During the rainy season, explorers searched for the plane's black box, cockpit voice recorder and human remains at the crash site. A video clip released by Chinese state media shows small pieces of the crashed Boeing 737-800 scattered at the crash site.
