The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in New Delhi has declared six gangster-turned-terrorist mafia operatives, based out of Canada and Pakistan, as Proclaimed Offenders. The six NIA accused declared POs are Canada-based Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, Ramandeep Singh alias Raman Judge, Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa; and Pakistan-based Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Lakhbir Singh Rode and Wadhawa Singh Babbar. The case is related to the terror activities of banned pro-Khalistan terrorist organisations such as Khalistan Liberation Force, Babbar Khalsa International and International Sikh Youth Federation, reported PTI.

According to the agency, the investigation agency on July 22 filed a charge sheet against nine accused, including Dala, Landa and Rinda. Notably, the case was registered suo motu on August 20 last year.

These individuals, along with other operatives of terror outfits and organised criminal gangs active in several parts of the country were smuggling terrorist hardware, including arms, ammunition, explosives and custom-made ready-to-use IEDs. They were also involved in smuggling of various types of contraband, including drugs, from across the border, the report added citing an official.

The official added that these operatives were also involved in the recruitment of terrorist cadres in India and raising funds for proscribed organisations.  The probe revealed that the accused had conspired to smuggle terrorist hardware across international borders for use by their associates in carrying out terrorist acts within the Indian territory, the agency mentioned.

Earlier on Monday, the NIA attached one of the oldest and largest weaponry and physical training institutes of the outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala, according to an official, news agency PTI reported. According to a federal agency spokesperson, this is the sixth PFI weaponry training camp and the 18th property of the organisation to be attached in Kerala as 'proceeds of terrorism' under the terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
