On Tuesday, 14th April Awhad's contacts came out to be positive for the infectious virus, including five bodyguards and a cook.
As per the reports of Thane Municipal Corporation, the other people who have tested positive include a TV journalist from Thane, his cameraman, three constables from a police station and several NCP workers.
Recently, NCP Thane President Anand Paranjape was also tested positive for Coronavirus. He is being treated at a designated hospital in the city.
Several party workers, as well as people, have been visiting Paranjape and Awhad amid the lockdown seeking help with the problems that they are facing.
It is speculated that the workers have incurred the virus from one of these people and extensive contact tracing measures have been undertaken by the civic body officials.
On Wednesday, Awhad also squashed rumors of him infected with the virus with a tweet and by sharing his Coronavirus test reports. He wrote, "Undoubtedly I was overexposed for over a month. God is kind who are kind to others (sic)."
Several politicians and social workers have come up with various initiatives to help the government as well as the common man in these times of distress.
Despite several people involved in relief work, including healthcare officials and administrative authorities, testing positive for the virus, the worries of the government have only increased.
