Chennai: The star couple, actor Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan, went to Tirumala Tirupati temple for a darshan a day after their wedding in Chennai, on Friday. However, their visit soon received flak from the devotees since the couple reportedly wore slippers during a photo shoot held at the temple premises.

On Friday, the couple first walked hand-in-hand in the restricted area of the temple and both of them entered the sanctum sanctorum. After the darshan, while they were still at the temple, Nayanthara was seen wearing sandals on the streets of Srivari during a quick photoshoot that offended the devotees. The couple was also surrounded by photographers who were having their footwear.

Soon after the controversy, Vignesh Shivan issued a clarification by saying that they were forced to exit the premises immediately after darshan due to the crowd and had to re-enter the temple after a while which resulted in the controversy.
