In a counter-offensive to the RJD supremo's 'no family' jibe on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday attacked the INDIA alliance saying that they stand with those who want to divide the country.

Hitting out at the opposition alliance, Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "For the INDI alliance there are no Hindus. For them, Hindus are backward, Dalit, 'Savarn', North Indian, South Indian, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, and even Hindi, but not Hindu. Because they want to see India in pieces. A family divided the country to get into politics and today, they stand with those who want to divide India so that they get to rule at least one division of the country."

The BJP MP's response came in retaliation to Lalu Prasad Yadav's comment made in Patna's Gandhi Maidan during the opposition's 'Jan Vishwas Maha' Rally on Sunday.

During the rally, Yadav can be seen addressing a gathering where he criticised PM Modi for his stance against dynasty politics and remarked, "What can we do if Narendra Modi does not have a family of his own? He keeps bragging about the Ram temple. He is not even a true Hindu. In Hindu tradition, a son must shave his head and beard upon the demise of his parents. Modi did not do so when his mother died."

Hitting back at the opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that 140 crore Indians are his family and attacked the dynasty parties. Modi reiterated that his commitment was to the people of the country and that he had left home at a young age with the dream of serving the people.

"140 crore people of this country are my family. Mera Bharat mera parivaar hai (my India is my family). My life is like an open book. People of the country know about it," he said.

Meanwhile, BJP president JP Nadda and senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sithraman and Anurag Thakur added 'Modi Ka Parivar' to their social media profiles.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Nityanand Rai attacked Lalu by saying that the RJD supremo "does not care for the people of the state like his family."

"Modi's family is the entire country's family. Lalu Yadav does not care for the people of the state like his family. What can such people do whose grounds are based on corruption and family dynasty?" Rai told ANI.

Union Minister RK Singh said, "Lalu Yadav has defended dynasty, nepotism. Is this something that can be defended? He is defending it and is not even ashamed of it. What does Lalu Yadav mean to say? Those who have 'parivaar' can indulge in 'parivaarvad'? The entire country is PM Modi's family."
