Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa on Monday met National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in Delhi. During an event at the India-Islamic Cultural Centre, he said that Muslims in India are proud of their nationality, and Constitution. Abdulkarim Al-Issa said that he has heard a lot about Indian wisdom and knows that Indian wisdom has contributed a lot to humanity. A delegation of the Muslim World League, headed by the Secretary-General of the MWL, Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-issa arrived in New Delhi earlier in the day. The delegation came at an official invitation from the Government of India, reported ANI.
During the event, he said, "We reach out to the different components & diversity with a common objective that we share. We have heard a lot about Indian wisdom & we know that Indian wisdom has contributed a lot to humanity, We know that we have a common objective of co-existing peacefully together..."
"We know that the Indian components with all its diversity is a great model for coexistence not only in mere words but also on the ground and we appreciate all the efforts taken in this regard...," the MWL Secreatry-General said.
He further added, "...Muslim components in the Indian society are proud of their nationality, that they are Indian nationals and they are proud of their Constitution..."
Meanwhile, addressing the attendees here, NSA Aji Doval emphasised living with interfaith harmony and peace.
"...Muslim World League Secretary General's message is loud and clear that we live in harmony, we live in peace if you would like to protect the future of humanity...Excellency your deep understanding of Islam, the religions of the world and incessant efforts towards interfaith harmony, courage to persistently lead on the path of reforms has not only contributed to a better understanding of Islam and its contribution to humanity but also prevented extremist and radical ideologies to plague the young mind...," Doval said.
Doval further said that as an inclusive democracy, India has successfully managed to provide space for all its citizens regardless of their religious, ethnic and cultural identities. Islam occupies a significant position of pride with India being home to the second-largest Muslim population in the world, he said adding that the Indian Muslim population is almost equal to the combined population of more than 33 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
"....It was only by being open to accommodating various world views and ideas, interactions and assimilations of various cultures, beliefs and practices that India emerged as a sanctuary for persecuted people of all faith from all across the world....", the NSA added.
Notably, Sheikh Dr Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa will also meet the President, PM Narendra Modi and senior Islamic religious leaders and religious leaders of different faiths.
