Amid heavy rainfall and waterlogging in some parts of Mumbai, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall across Maharashtra for next five days, reported news agency ANI. “Situation favourable. Expect Maharashtra to get widespread rainfall in the next 5 days. Heavy to very rainfall in scattered areas. Ghat areas also expected to get good rains. In Mumbai, July 5,7 and 8 will see heavy rainfall. Red alert for Ratnagiri and Raigad,” Jayant Sarkar from MeT department said, as quoted by the news agency.
Heavy and continuous rainfall in Mumbai on Tuesday drenched the city resulting in diversion of eight routes while people waded through knee-deep water to reach their destination.
In view of the incessant rains in Mumbai and water logging due to it, a total of 8 route diversions have been done at Sion Road no. 24 and Shell Colony, Chembur in Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport said.
The downpour resulted in water accumulation in the low lying area of Sion. The Andheri subway of the city is deluged amid the heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, a landslide was reported in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar, Panchsheel Nagar on Tuesday morning amidst the heavy rain. The Mumbai Fire department said that vehicles have reached the spot and no casualties reported so far.
In the wake of the rainfall in many parts of the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials to monitor the situation and keep the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) squads ready, said the CM's office (CMO) on Tuesday.
