Zaveri Bazaar is considered as one of the oldest gold markets in the country. The bazaar is dotted with quaint old jewellery shops and dilapidated buildings that maintain the old world charm.
There are several jewellery shops amid old temples, almost over 200 years, that makes it a unique destination for travellers. Located between Crawford Market and Mumbadevi, the 155-year old Zaveri Bazaar (jewellery market) in south Mumbai is paradise for jewellery shoppers.
However, the rain water has entered the shops located here in Zaveri Bazaar due to which the shop owners are facing many difficulties. This region didn't witness such a state of this scale in recent monsoons. The rain water have impacted the shopowners as most of their belongings are submerged in water. In fact the rain has affected hospitals, too, that are already battling the coronavirus spike.

Heavy showers overnight and early Wednesday morning caused waterlogging at many places in the metropolis, disrupting rail and road traffic. According to IMD, the city recorded over 12.20 cms rain while the suburbs notched over 27.50 cms rain most of it during the night.
The IMD Mumbai has forecast another wet day with heavy rain as the civic authorities urged people to avoid stepping out unless necessary. Heavy water-logging was reported from the traditional flood-prone areas of central Mumbai like Sion, Matunga, Kurla, Chunabhatti, Mazagaon, Masjid Bunder and Byculla.
