Heavy rains in Mumbai have taken a toll on the routine life in Mumbai as it resulted in waterlogging in many areas, forcing the closure of the busy Andheri subway, as per civic officials. In the wake of the downpour and prediction that it will likely to continue till next 4-5 days, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday asked its officers to visit the low-lying areas under their jurisdiction as there is possibility of flooding, as per report by agencies.
The island city (south Mumbai), eastern and western suburbs received 12.44 mm, 42.41 mm and 40.46 mm of rainfall, respectively, between 8 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, as per civic officials.

- One person, Kaushal Doshi (38) died after a tree collapsed in the suburban Malad area of the city, the civic body said in a release. He was rushed to the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital where the doctors declared him `brought dead'.
- Local traffic on Central and Western Railway routes was mostly normal but the trains were running a few minutes late, railway officials told PTI.
- Waterlogging forced the busy Andheri subway to be closed for vehicular movement as 1.5 to 2 feet of water was accumulated and the traffic was diverted to SV Road, Mumbai Traffic Police tweeted.
- The civic-run Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport or `BEST' buses on three routes were diverted at Ketki pada in Dahisar East.
- 26 incidents of tree fall, 15 incidents of short-circuit, and five incidents of collapse or partial collapse of houses, took place in the last 24 hours according to the BMC.
- To tackle the situation of waterlogging, a pumping station has been installed in Dharavi that would pump out 1,000 cubic metres of water every hour," BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal told news agency PTI.
