The Carbon Edition builds on the already potent (and fun) package that the Cooper S is. Under the little bonnet lies a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor that's known to be quite a racket. The biggest update is the JCW Tuning Kit, which bumps up the power to 210PS and 300 Nm. The added power lets it clock 0-100kmph slightly faster - in just 6.5 seconds. The party piece is a Bluetooth-controlled exhaust. A remote lets you open up the valves on the carbon-fibre-tipped twin exhausts, so that the motor gets a vocal exercise. Pretty neat!
Other updates specific to the Carbon Edition include racing stripes and decals, 17-inch alloy wheels, a JCW bodykit and JCW Sport steering wrapped in leather. The standard Carbon Edition will sport a 6.6-inch screen for the infotainment whereas the Wired package gets the 8.8-inch display with a touchpad controller.
Of course, other Mini elements remain unchanged. With the Carbon Edition, the term 'pocket rocket' is a tad too literal. We've loved the Mini for its tack sharp handling and the immensely responsive motor, and this one promises to be even better. Quite the deal, then?
