Israeli Artists Maya Gelfman & Roie Avidan Bring 'Mind The Heart! Project' To India
‘Mind the Heart! Project’ has reached more than 100 cities in different countries including India.
New Delhi: The Embassy of Israel in India announced a new exhibition by Israeli artists Maya Gelfman and Roie Avidan. Titled "Bodies of Work," the exhibition will be held in collaboration with ONKAF Gallery and will open on February 10, in New Delhi. The exhibition features a series of photographs and is part of the "Mind the Heart! Project," a global art initiative established by the artists in 2009. Over the past decade, the project has been displayed in over 100 cities around the world, including India.
Ambassador of Israel to India, Naor Gilon, said, "We are happy to collaborate with our local partners in India to encourage cultural cooperation between our peoples. As an embassy, we continue to promote art exhibitions, the exchange of artistic groups and other cultural events among youth. So it gives us great pleasure to present this unique exhibition in India, which has been produced by two young Israeli artists who travel around the world. It's also special as it comes on the occasion of both countries celebrating the completion of 30 years of full diplomatic relations. Culture is playing an important role in bringing our peoples together and strengthening our growing partnership with India.”
The artists said, “We are delighted to be back in New Delhi, to finally realize an artistic dream that started 3 years ago, with ONKAF Gallery. It’s heartwarming and raises the optimism that conversations that started just before the Covid pandemic can now be revisited and visions accomplished. We are coming full circle in this exhibition.”
Sharad Chauhan, Director of ONKAF Gallery, said, "We are delighted to present an exhibition by Israeli artists Maya Gelfman & Roie Avidan at Gallery ONKAF supported by the Embassy of Israel, New Delhi. Their works can be viewed as markers of a specific time and space in a societal framework. A lot of thought has gone into the pictures, in the making of the overall expressiveness that conveys the content in the best way for further understanding of daily lives. As a reflection of their state of mind, a demarcation between one’s interior and exterior self becomes visible in the works of this exhibition, raising questions on the structure of our daily existence in the changing world around us.”
The "Bodies of Work" exhibition will be on display at ONKAF Gallery in New Delhi from February 10th to March 3rd, 2023. This exhibition is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of full diplomatic relations between Israel and India.
