MG Hector Now In Production; Pre-Launch Bookings To Begin In June
Carmaker’s new production teaser shows fifth colour option for Hector; will rival the likes of Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Harrier
The Hector SUV will be MG Motor’s debut product in India. While the launch is slated for June 2019, the production-spec will be unveiled in full on May 15. In the meantime, a new teaser video from MG Motor shows the Hector in production.
Shot at the carmaker’s facility in Halol, Gujarat, the new video gives us a glimpse at the Hector during various stages of its making. From chassis and body construction to the drivetrain and various fittings like the dashboard. It also shows us the Hector in five colours - red, white, grey, deep purple and black. This is the first time the Hector has been seen in the black exterior colour.
The interior can be seen with an all-black theme while a dual-tone black and beige interior theme was also seen in a Hector at an MG Motor dealer event. At the centre of the dashboard lies a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with internet connectivity. Other features spotted in this production video include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera and the dynamic turn indicators.
MG will be offering the Hector with two engine options - a 2.0-litre diesel unit and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The production-spec power outputs and transmission options have not been revealed yet. Prices for the Hector are expected to start from Rs 15 lakh with two to three variants to choose from.
The pre-launch bookings for the MG Hector will begin in June. Once launched, Hector will go up against the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Tucson.
