Mercedes-Benz CLA facelift launched at Rs 31.40 lakh

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz is on an aggressive model update streak this year. After having introduced a petrol variant for practically every car they sell, the German auto major has turned its eyes towards its baby sedan - the CLA. The most affordable sedan in Mercedes' lineup gets an update today. Prices for the CLA facelift are as follows:

Petrol

CLA 200 - Rs 33.68 lakh

Diesel 

CLA200d Style - Rs 31.40 lakh

CLA200d Sport - Rs 34.68 lakh

The Looks

Don't fix what isn't broken - that's the mantra Mercedes-Benz has followed with the update. The insides of the updated CLA remain largely similar to the outgoing generation. Goodies include climate control, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering and electric seats. The old 7.0-inch screen has been swapped for a larger 8.0-inch screen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and there's a new instrument cluster as well.

The Engines

While the CLA gets a choice of 11 engines globally, we will get just a couple. The petrol motor is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, that develops 183PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The diesel, on the other hand, is the good old 2.2-litre motor in a 136PS/300Nm tune. Competition 

The CLA's lone rival in the Indian market is the Audi A3, prices for which begin from Rs 28.5 lakh. BMW has recently taken wraps off the 1 Series sedan as well, but that's a China only model for now.
