The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the latest model in the brand’s lineup to now get the updated BS6 1.2-litre petrol engine. It also gets a few more safety features as standard and thus the prices for all Dzire variants have increased.

The 1.2-litre petrol engine still makes the same 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque after being updated to meet BS6 emission norms. It is offered with a choice of both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. The claimed fuel efficiency has dropped from 22kmpl to 21.21kmpl for both variants. Maruti has increased the prices of the petrol variants by upto Rs 15,000. The same BS6 K12B engine can also be found in the WagonR, Swift and Baleno.

Maruti had previously announced its plans to axe all diesel models by April 2020. So the 1.3-litre diesel engine offering in the Dzire remains unchanged and won’t be updated for BS6 norms. But it does get a few additional safety features as standard, resulting in a price hike for all diesel variants.

The additional safety features include rear parking sensors, co-driver seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system. It already came with dual-front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, ABS and EBD as standard.
