Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Ertiga CNG at Rs 8.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The CNG version is based on the Ertiga’s mid-spec VXI variant, and will not be offered in the base-spec LXI to the top-spec ZXI and ZXI+ variants. Compared to the standard petrol-powered VXI variant, the CNG attracts a premium of just over Rs 70,000. The Ertiga CNG can also be registered for commercial purpose as the Tour M, priced at Rs 8.83 lakh (ex-showroom India).

As you’d expect, the power and torque figures of the 1.5-litre petrol have gone down in the CNG mode. When running on CNG, the engine produces 92PS and 122Nm, which is 13PS and 16Nm less compared to running on petrol. Moreover, the CNG-equipped model doesn’t get the mild-hybrid model like the standard petrol variant.

When it comes to efficiency, the Ertiga CNG comes with an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 26.20km/kg and comes with a 60-litre tank of CNG (water equivalent) besides the regular 45-litre petrol tank.

There are no additional features in the Ertiga CNG as it gets pretty what the standard VXI offers.

It comes equipped with goodies such as second-row armrest, accessory socket with smartphone storage space, keyless entry, a Bluetooth enabled audio system with steering-mounted controls, day-night IRVM, power folding and adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and blower speed regulator for the rear AC vents among others. Safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchor are standard across the range.
