New Delhi: In a major setback to the Congress party, former Gujarat Congress MLA Indranil Rajguru on Thursday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said that AAP has emerged as the best option to serve the people and overthrow the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
While showering praises on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, he said that Delhi CM fights for the people, not for his party.
"This attitude impressed me a lot. I was in the Congress from the beginning because I wanted to serve the people. The BJP has acquired power by fooling people, while the Congress has lost its ability to become an alternative. My only problem with the Congress is that it lacks the will to defeat the BJP," he said.

Rajguru was elected MLA from Rajkot East seat in 2012 as a Congress candidate. In the year 2018, he resigned from Congress. Later in 2019, he rejoined Congress.
"I am joining the AAP because it has emerged as the best option to serve the people in a better way. Moreover, I feel that only the AAP has the strength to uproot the BJP in Gujarat," Rajguru said, adding that he was not keen on contesting the upcoming Assembly polls, expected to be held in December.
Rajguru said he was not inclined to contest the upcoming assembly elections, which are expected to be held in December.
While taking pledge to work together to meet all of Gujarat's expectations, Kejriwal welcomed new leaders.
"I welcome Indranil Rajguru ji and Vasrambhai Sagathia ji to the Aam Aadmi Party. Together, we all have to fulfil every expectation of the people of Gujarat," Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.
Local Congress leader Vashram Sagathiya has also joined AAP. He has been the Leader of the Opposition in Rajkot Municipal Corporation.
