Is it sensible to buy the Marazzo over the Innova Crysta and save some money in the process?
Mahindra has launched the Marazzo MPV at an introductory starting price of Rs 10 lakh. The prices go up to Rs 13.9 lakh (both ex-showroom) for the top-spec M8 variant. With the Marazzo, the homegrown carmaker has bridged the gap between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. Not just in terms of price, but also size as well.
The Marazzo, even in its fully-loaded variant, undercuts the Innova Crysta’s base model by a significant margin. Therefore, it makes a strong case for itself for buyers who don’t want to stretch their budget to buy the Toyota. So let’s check out how the Mahindra fares against the Japanese MPV and whether the Marazzo’s top-spec variant is actually a more value-for-money pick over the standard Crysta.
But before diving into the variants, let’s see how the two MPV’s stack up in terms of specifications
Dimensions
- The Innova Crysta is longer than the Marazzo by 150mm. However, it's the Marazzo which has a longer wheelbase (by 10mm) here
- The Marazzo is also wider than the Innova, which should help provide more shoulder room for passengers

The base-spec Innova Crysta is available with a 2.4-litre motor mated to a manual transmission. The Marazzo, on the other hand, gets a relatively small 1.5-litre diesel engine. As expected, the Toyota’s larger engine makes more power and torque. However, the Marazzo is available with a 6-speed MT, while the Innova gets a 5-speed unit

Common Features: Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, Isofix child seat anchors, electrically adjustable and foldable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) with turn indicators, rear fog lamps, alloy wheels, and AC for the first, second and third rows. Additionally, both MPVs also get driver seat height adjust, tilt-adjustable steering, adjustable headrests for all passengers, a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, steering wheel-mounted controls and a cooled glove box.
What the Marazzo offers over the Innova: Emergency call feature, automatic climate control, reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines, rear disc brakes, projector headlamps, front fog lamps, LED DRLs, cornering lamps, infotainment system with Aux, USB and Android Auto.
What the Innova Crysta offers over the Marazzo: Driver’s knee airbag.
Verdict: If you are in the market for a seven seater MPV, then we would suggest you to go for the top-spec Marazzo over the Innova Crysta purely on the basis of the equipment that is on offer vis-a-vis the asking price. Sure, it does miss out on a driver’s knee airbag, but that’s not a big miss in our books (considering the price) as it gets other basic safety features right.
