Himachal Police Rescue Over 2,000 Stranded Vehicles Amid Heavy Snowfall

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh): Amid heavy snowfall warnings, Himachal Police conducted a large-scale rescue operation to evacuate over 2,000 vehicles stranded between Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel. According to Manali DSP KD Sharma, the rescue mission began on Friday and continued into Saturday morning. While approximately 1,800 vehicles were safely evacuated, around 200 vehicles remained stuck temporarily. All travellers from the stranded vehicles were safely rescued, and the operation concluded successfully. Traffic in the area had been halted due to adverse weather forecasts.

Red Alert for Madhya Pradesh: Hailstorm and Lightning Expected

The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for Madhya Pradesh, predicting hailstorms with lightning and wind speeds of up to 50 kmph until 7 PM today. An orange warning is also in place for moderate thunderstorms with surface wind speeds between 41–61 kmph in gusts. Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for light thunderstorms with wind speeds below 40 kmph. Residents are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

Dense to very dense fog conditions are expected to persist during late night and early morning hours in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana (including Chandigarh), and Rajasthan from December 28 to 30. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling due to reduced visibility, which may impact road and rail transportation.

Moderate thunderstorms are predicted, with gusty surface winds reaching 41–61 km/h. There is a moderate (30–60%) probability of cloud-to-ground lightning occurrences.


Yellow Warning


Light thunderstorms with surface winds under 40 km/h are likely, along with a lower probability (<30%) of cloud-to-ground lightning.


Residents are urged to exercise caution, avoid outdoor activities during severe weather, and stay updated with local advisories.

Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is highly likely at various locations in Delhi, including Palam, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur, Ayanagar, and Deramandi. In the NCR, areas such as Gurugram, Faridabad, and Manesar are also expected to experience similar conditions.






Additionally, light to moderate rainfall, coupled with light thunderstorms and lightning, is predicted in regions across Haryana (Yamunanagar, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Hodal), Uttar Pradesh (Saharanpur, Gangoh, Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Sakoti Tanda, Baraut, Daurala, Bagpat, Meerut, Modinagar, Kithor, Nandgaon), and Rajasthan (Tizara, Alwar).


A hailstorm, along with moderate to heavy rainfall and lightning, is very likely in parts of NCR, specifically Noida and Manesar, within the next two hours. Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay updated with weather advisories.


Some parts of the national capital observes rainfall of more than 40 mm. Delhi University, Lodhi Road, Safdarganj Palam are the areas that got heavy rainfall.
