New Delhi: Attacking the Uttar Pradesh government at a rally in Maharajganj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cited a report on the state’s website on infant mortality, literacy and the sex ratio that bears resemblance to social indicators of Saharan Africa region.

Speaking at a rally ahead of sixth phase of Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, Modi quoted a document from UP’s website that says, “Life in Uttar Pradesh is short and uncertain. A female expects to live less than 55 and the under-five mortality rate is 141 per 1,000. In these respects, UP resembles sub-Saharan Africa.”



He also said that UP voters giving vent to their anger over 15 years of loot in the state.

“UP voters have ensured BJP's victory in first 5 phases; now they will give us surplus votes as bonus in remaining 2 phases,” he added.

“One party made UP 'behal', another spoke of UP becoming 'behal'; later both joined hands,” Modi said.



Modi also mocked Rahul Gandhi over his potato factory comment, says he does not even know that there is no coconut juice, it is coconut water.

Speaking about blackmarketing of urea, PM said “Earlier there used to be theft & blackmarketing of urea. We neem coated of urea & now it benefits only farmers. This stopped corruption.”
