New Delhi: At a time the world is facing gender justice and equality issues, a government girls school in Kerala's Kozhikode introduced a gender-neutrality uniform to the girls on December 15.
Balussery Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Kozhikode district stands as an example by making it mandatory for the girl folk to wear a shirt and a pant as a school uniform. While there is a lot of gender bias in society, the Kerala government takes this step to notify how important gender-neutrality is to today's society.

Kerala's Higher Education Minister, R Bindu announced the introduction of the new uniform in the girls' school. The students were asked to wear the uniform from Wednesday. Having introduced a new format in this government school, Bindu said as quoted by ANI, "It's an attempt to wipe out gender-biased attitudes in society. All changes in society have come through years of transformation."
Like how there is a resistance in the society when something new is introduced, people have been against this change too. Following this introduction, there were protests led by the co-ordination committee of Muslim organisations including Samastha, KNM, JIH.
