Chennai: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced Rs 3,000 as a relief fund for the fishermen families who for losing their daily wages due to heavy rains in October and November. The disaster relief fund will be given to nearly 1.60 lakh fishermen in the state.


"As a large number of working days were lost due to heavy rain in Oct & Nov, Rs 3000 will be given to 1,59,481 fishermen families in Kerala from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund," says Pinarayi Vijayan according to an ANI report.

Earlier in the month of October, the state government has announced that they will provide Rs 5 Lakhs to the kin of the deceased due to rains and landslides and have announced to give Rs 10 lakhs to the people whose houses were washed away due to incessant rains.


Kerala has been battered by heavy rains for the last four years in every monsoon. The cabinet meeting that was held last month has also decided to provide financial assistance to the family of Vaishakh H, who lost his life in an encounter with terrorists on October 11.
