For 2019, the streetfighter receives graphic updates and comes in 3 new colours

Following the heels of the 2019 Versys 650, Kawasaki has launched the 2019 Z900. Like the Versys 650, updates for the Z900 are limited to new colours. The bike now comes in 3 new colours: metallic moondust grey / ebony, pearl flat stardust white / metallic spark black and metallic flat spark black / metallic spark black. It also gets new graphics that now replace the ‘Z’ on the tank extensions with the number ‘900’. The tail section also gets the graphics treatment.

While the pearl flat stardust white / metallic spark black and metallic flat spark black / metallic spark black colour options get a green frame with black alloy wheels, the moondust grey/ebony colour variant gets a red frame with red wheels and looks the sportiest of the three, This racy colour variant, however, will be available in limited numbers.

Mechanically the Z900 remains unchanged and that includes its 948cc in-line, four cylinder motor that makes 125PS and 98.6Nm of torque. Despite being a class heavyweight at 210 kgs, the Kawasaki Z900 is among the quickest bikes we have tested. Its 0-100kmph time of 3.7 seconds was second in its class only beaten by the Triumph Street Triple S’s 0-100kmph time of 3.59 seconds.

While the Z900 misses out on electronic aids like rider modes and traction control, it gets ABS and a slipper clutch. The 2019 Kawasaki Z900 faces competition from the Triumph Street Triple S (Rs 9.19 lakh), Yamaha MT-09 (Rs 10.39 lakh), Ducati 797 (Rs 8.03 lakh) and the newly launched Suzuki GSX-S750 (Rs 7.45 lakh) (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
