Chennai: With just a couple of months remaining for the Karnataka Assembly elections 2023, Congress is preparing in full swing to bag majority of seats and conquer the CM chair. As a first step, Congress has been announcing poll promises and on Friday, the party made the third promise to provide free 10 kg rice for BPL card holders.
On Friday, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar announced the third promise of free 10 kg rice to BPL card holders once the party comes to power. DK Shivakumar on Assembly polls said, “Congress today announced its third promise of free 10kg rice to each individual holder of BPL card.”
“The first two promises are 200 units of free power every month and Rs 2000/month to every woman head of households in the state,” he said.
On the other hand, Congress leaders are announcing poll promises even before the announcement of poll dates and are also having discussions over the face of the polls.
During the same time when Karnataka Leader of Opposition was asked about the Congress CM face, he revealed the aspirants for the ticket. Siddaramaiah said, “We all are aspirants but we are not fighting. DK Shivakumar is also one of the aspirants, I'm also one of the aspirants and G Parameshwara is also an aspirant. Nothing wrong with it.”
On February 16, Congress launched a door-to-door campaign in the state. As part of the campaign, Congress said that they'll give 'promise cards' with the promises of the party to the people. The cards will also be signed by DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, as per a report on India Today.
Earlier, Congress also separately released a 10-point manifesto highlighting the development of the coastal region and creating consonance in the state.
