Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress is in full swing to make Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's mega convention of women on January 16 a hit among the people in the region.
As PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are frequenting the state ahead of the run-up for Assembly elections, Congress aims to counter the visits of BJP national leadership with the visit of Priyanka Gandhi.
The BJP is also planning repeated visits of PM Modi, Amit Shah and also is roping Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to woo the voters since the assembly elections are nearing in the state.
According to IANS, the Congress leaders say they are confident of winning the polls this time. Even though the state unit has taken up various activities and leaders conducting rallies, the absence of charismatic national leaders was felt. Therefore, Congress has planned a mega rally with Priyanka Gandhi in the state.
The workers also believe that the rally will help them make an impact and rejuvenate the Congress party workers at the grassroots level and leaders.
The programme is titled 'Naa Nayaki' (I am the leader). The party is planning to rope in one lakh women for the rally from across the state.
KPCC Women's Wing President Puspa Amarnath stated that the participation of Priyanka Gandhi would boost the prospectus of the party in the state and they are looking forward to the event, as per the report.
The party is also contemplating releasing a separate manifesto for women. The party has been conducting a series of meetings and also over virtual platforms to make the event successful.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi also visited Karnataka as part of Bharat Joda Yatra and received a rousing welcome. During his stay, he highlighted various issues in the state including the condition of the potholed roads in the states.
