Hyderabad: Janasena party chief Pawan Kalyan has announced a donation of Rs 5 crore for farmers' welfare on Tuesday at the Janasena party office in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on this occasion, Pawan Kalyan said that he was donating Rs 5 crore from the Bhimla Nayak film's money to the Janasena party and that the farmers' wing should utilize the money. Pawan handed over the check to Janasena party treasurer AV Ratnam.

Pawan Kalyan said that the state government has failed to protect the interests of tenant farmers. He asserted Janasena has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of deceased tenant farmers from Anantapur District on April 12. The program, which gives financial support to tenant farmers, has been named 'Janasena Raitu Bharosa Yatra'.

Pawan Kalyan alleged that 1,019 tenant farmers ended their lives in the state in the first year and 889 others in the second year after the YSRCP government came to power. He said the government was deliberately hiding information and has demanded that the information of the deceased farmers be given to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

According to their preliminary information, 353 tenant farmers committed suicide in the Kurnool district, followed by 170 in the Ananthapuram district, 49 in Prakasam and 87 in both the Godavari districts, said Pawan Kalyan.

The actor-turned-politician claimed that the Janasena party had asked the government for Rs 25,000 per acre for farmers impacted by the Nivar cyclone but there hasn't been any response from CM Jagan on it.

Pawan Kalyan called on the Janasena ranks that there were affected farmers in every village and that party leaders should stand firm on their side.
