In a sudden development, terrorists lobbed grenade and fired on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops on Sunday evening. According to the early reports, the incident happened at Achabal Chowk in Jammu & Kashmir's Anantnag at 6:40 pm today. News agency ANI quoted the CRPF sources saying "Terrorists lobbed grenade and fired on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops at Achabal Chowk in Anantnag at 6:40 pm."

As per the information, a constable has sustained splinter injuries in the attack and has been rushed to the hospital for the medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the security forces have cordoned off the entire area and a massive search operation has been launched. More details are awaited.

The attack has come more than two months after a terrorist was gunned down by the security forces during an encounter. A joint operation was launched with the Jammu and Kashmir police to locate the militants when firing broke out between the forces and terrorists at Larnoo in the Anantnag district.
