Four people, including a two-month-old child, her mother, and two other children died on Sunday morning after theur house collapsed due to a landslide that occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan stated that the incident was reported from Chassana Village of Mahore Sub Division, which has witnessed heavy to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The family of four was buried alive as a massive landslide hit their kacha house in Kunderdhan Chassana due to incessant rainfall, news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) cited officials saying.
“Mother and her three children died of the landslide, two others suffered injuries," the official stated.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Phalla Akhter and her three daughters including 5-year-old Nasima Akter, 3-year-old Safeen Kousar, and two-month-old Samreen Kousar.
"Two persons, namely Kalu, son of Juma, aged about 60 years, and Bano Begum, wife of Kalu, aged about 58 years, got injured," KNO reported.
As per the official the rescue parties have recovered all the bodies while the authorities are still on the spot.
Jammu- Srinagar National Highway was also closed for the second consecutive day on Sunday due to a mudslide in the Ramban district's Dhalwas area.
In another incident reported from Jammu and Kashmir, a group of seven local trekkers were stuck near the Mughal Road in Poonch amid heavy snowfall and avalanche. However, they were safely rescued by the Mechanical Department of Mughal Road on Saturday.
